Put on a timer. If you have a difficult time focusing, set a timer for the length of time you are able to work. Keep increasing the time until you are up to the amount of time that you want to be able to concentrate for.

Plan your day in advance. If you can, spend time in planning out your schedule for the day after. Preparing the next day’s list is the best thing you can do at the end of each day. You can get right down to work when you know what is coming.

If you seem to always be a step or two behind, pay more attention to deadlines. Procrastinating only lets stress pile up and things get worse from there. If, however, you keep a watchful eye on your deadlines, that will not happen.

Allocate your time in a way that makes sense. Realistically consider the amount of time you need to complete a task and schedule accordingly. This gives you control over your life. If you wind up with some extra time, take a breather and relax a bit!

Start a day by getting your schedule out and filling in blanks that may be in it. This will catch you up and get you ready for the day. Be sure not to overbook the day.

Allow some time for inevitable interruptions. If you have certain tasks that need to be accomplished back to back, pay attention to the amount of traffic, or unexpected distraction that may pop up. Understanding that these interruptions will take place will make things easier.

If time management comes hard to you, plan days the night before. You can work on this the night before, this way you have all your task organized for the following day. Besides being well-prepared to get right to work on the day’s tasks, you’ll also rest better the night before once you know exactly what you’re going to do.

Time management skills can improve the quality of your life. It lowers stress, and it gives you the opportunity to do all the stuff that you really love. Once you get used to using these ideas, you will see a dramatic improvement in many areas of your life.
